THIS WEEK'S SIMPLE STEP -
RECYCLED PAPER
We're making this week's step even easier for you as it's already been done. Thanks to some great sourcing by Rav, Townline Head Office now exclusively orders recycled 8 1/2" x 11" paper.
FYI - An interesting tip is that it's important to read the fine print with recycled paper...not all recycled paper is created equal. For example, recycled paper is an ambiguous term that could mean paper recovered after consumers haul it out to the curbside (good) or paper made from pre-consumer scraps (not so good…this means it might not even be recycled at all).
Read the labels carefully on all products and pay attention to the percentage of post consumer fiber used when making your decision. The higher the percentage, the better it is. To determine if a particular paper is indeed environmentally friendly, you need to know more than the recycled content...also look at how the paper was bleached (white paper is...), there are bleaching methods that are more environmentally friendly. At Townline Head Office, we’re proud to now be using 8 ½" x 11" paper that is 100% post-consumer content. It is also made without the use of chlorine or chlorine compounds (the bad bleaches discussed in the attachment). We’re also thrilled to report that this environmentally friendly swap resulted in no cost increase to Townline…this new paper is the same price as non-recycled paper we were using prior!
