Greening the office and making it more environmentally friendly continues and we couldn't do it without your help...

Looking back at 2007 since we implemented our Down to Earth mandate we've made the following changes that you might not have been aware of (these are just a small selection of the improvements we've made around the office due to your many "Keener Greener" suggestions):

• Recycled photocopy/printer paper - Now all sizes of the office photocopy/printer paper are made of 100% post-consumer content (additionally the paper is also made without the use of chlorine or chlorine compounds).
• Refillable Pens -When the ink in any of the newly sourced blue, black or red pens runs out, don't throw away the pen, simply replace the cartridge.
• Recycled Yellow Post-it Notes - We've sourced 100% recycled with a minimum 20% post-consumer waste sticky notes (and they stick as well as original ones!)

(All these office supplies can be found in the office supplies cupboard and will be marked accordingly with the Down to Earth logo to help you find them).

We're also exclusively using business cards made of recycled paper as well as recycling our photocopier ink cartridges. Additionally (thanks to another Green Suggestion), we're reducing the amount of paper used with faxes by printing a daily summary of faxed confirmations versus one page per fax.

THIS MONTH'S SIMPLE STEP

SAVE PAPER (& TREES) BY REDUCING THE AMOUNT OF EMAILS PRINTED

This simple step comes from two separate suggestions to gogreen@townline.ca. Many emails are printed when they might not need to be. We're asking everyone to consider the environment prior to printing an email. We've created a new Townline email signature to remind everyone of this (and to communicate our Down to Earth policy).

The new addition to the bottom of the signature reads:

Townline is Down to Earth. Please consider the environment before printing this e-mail. To learn more about Townline's Down to Earth policy, please visit our website.

Please take the time to re-create your email signature to include this note by visiting the T-drive on your computer. See Create Signature and follow the easy instructions there.
