Green Resolutions to Keep & Composting in Townline's Lunchroom

THIS MONTH'S SIMPLE STEP
MAKE A BELATED/ACHIEVABLE GREEN NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTION TO THINK GREEN...

Think Green. It's the third week of January and resolutions, if made, may be forgotten already. Pick an easy goal...think green.

Follow the Simple Steps and double-side your photocopies, use environmentally sustainable products when available (made easy with the tagging in Townline's supply cupboard), and bring your Townline Down To Earth bag if you know you're going shopping. Think twice before you print an email or document to reduce paper usage. Start with the easy-to-do Simple Steps and make a difference in reducing your (and Townline's) environmental footprint.

COMPOSTING NOW AVAILABLE IN TOWNLINE'S LUNCHROOM

As of this week, thanks to the hard work of Michael Ferreira, we've added a compost bin in the lunchroom to minimize waste.

No worms, no smell, less waste... This compost uses Bokashi, a bran-based material that aids in the fermentation of organic matter. It's easy...open the lid, add your kitchen waste and seal the lid tightly. The compost does the rest and breaks down the waste. The bucket will then be picked up on a regular basis and used as gardening fertilizer.

What CAN go in the compost? Organic kitchen waste like fresh fruit and vegetables, leftovers, meat and fish, cheese and eggs, bread, coffee grinds, tea bags, wilted flowers, or even tissue paper.

What CAN'T go in the compost? Liquids like milk, orange juice, oils or plastic or paper wrap.

Take the simple step, think green and compost your leftover lunch waste.

Sincerely, The Green Team
